Tika

Tika is one of the staff at our boy's orphanage. Her husband was killed a few years ago by the Maoist rebels. She has two sons. Recently Sue had the opportunity to visit the little room that she rents near the orphanage. What Sue found there was disheartening. The only piece of furniture was a bed. Sue got together with the two girls from New Zealand who have spent the last two months volunteering at our orphanages and gave the room a new coat of paint. We had our Burmese refugee woodworkers make her a couple of small tables and we bought her a wicker shelf so she had a place to put her clothes and things. Not surprising that she cried because someone cared for her. Here are before and after pictures.
Pictured are Djaogon (Burmese refugee that works at the boy's orphanage, Debbie and Philipa from New Zealand, and Tika.
